Position Overview
EIRE Systems is seeking an experienced Site Planning Manager to lead datacenter infrastructure strategy and operations across multiple sites in Tokyo. This role combines strategic planning, project leadership, and vendor management to ensure reliable, efficient, and scalable datacenter facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Datacenter Operations & Planning
- Manage datacenter contracts and coordinate with service providers, telco installers, and DCIM suppliers.
- Maintain and update electrical design and structured cabling documentation for all contracted machine rooms.
- Lead change management for datacenter facilities (mechanical, electrical, telecom).
- Manage DC capacity planning, especially power and cooling, in coordination with service providers.
- Oversee physical security and access control reporting.
- Maintain facility design and operational standards.
Project Management & Strategy
- Act as project coordinator, account manager, or project manager for DC projects.
- Drive and execute DC fit-outs, migrations, and expansion projects, including pre-sales and internal project management.
- Create project briefs, manage budgets, and present proposals to stakeholders.
- Participate in commissioning and quality assurance for all DC fit-out projects.
- Negotiate contract renewals and propose site planning & DC infrastructure strategies to senior management.
- Support auditing activities for risk management and quality assurance.
- Manage colo-site customer relationships for pre-sales and vendor work delivery.
Requirements
- Native-level Japanese and strong English writing skills.
- Proven experience in datacenter operations, focusing on infrastructure beyond 19” racks.
- Hands-on experience in ICT infrastructure projects (build, expansion, migration, or retirement).
- Knowledge of telecom or enterprise network infrastructure.
- Training or certification in structured cabling systems (Panduit, Siemon, Commscope, etc.) preferred.
- Electrical engineering certification is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with design standards such as ANSI/TIA-942, ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801-5, or experience creating RFPs for ICT infrastructure projects.
- Experience creating project budgets or quotations for large-scale structured cabling or construction works.
- Understanding of ITIL or ITSM methodologies.
- Familiarity with project management frameworks (Prince2, PMP) is a plus.
- Strong supply chain management and vendor communication skills.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills; ability to act as a consultant is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDFOM or equivalent datacenter facility operation certification.
- RCDD or other BICSI certifications in datacenter infrastructure.
- Training in structured cabling systems (Panduit, Siemon, Commscope).
- Ability to quickly adopt internal change management tools and processes.
