Japan Data Centre Migration Project – Application Development Project Manager

  • Application Development Project Manager (ADPM) to undertake the planning and migration of the Japan data centre to Singapore. This project has 2 phases, the first the replication of the production Japan environment to Singapore to build and test a disaster recovery capability, phase 2 is the migration of Japan production to Singapore.
  • The primary role of the Application Development Project Manager is (as a dedicated member of the project team) act as the co-ordinator between the Japan application development teams and the project team.  The role will require the identification of all risks and issues applicable to the total suite of applications deployed and management of these to a satisfactory conclusion. Application testing schedules will be required to be developed and planned for execution to co-ordinate with the project deliverables and minimise risk and impact to the Japan business.  Plans, manage, and deliver for remediation of identified issues will be defined by the application teams and managed to resolution by the ADPM.
  • The appointee is required to be technically literate, a self starter and to have had relevant prior project management experience.

  • Contract – 12 months

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identify and document all application dependencies
  • Map and document applications to infrastructure
  • Develop and manage to completion remediation plans for applications hosted on unsupported infrastructure
  • Define and manage all application test plans on completion of Singapore Disaster Recovery implementation
  • Co-ordinate and lead all communications between application development teams and infrastructure teams
  • Create and submit all regular project status reports as defined by the project manager
  • Maintain current library of application run books
  • Carefully study, design, and test application performance to manage user experience
  • Plan SLA and execute PDCA for DR and BCP

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment across multiple time zones and countries
  • Excellent knowledge about all aspects of information technology specifically with complex infrastructure environments
  • Analytical and observation skills
  • Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Visio and Powerpoint skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills not only within IT, but also with business
  • Planning and organization ability
  • Time management skills with strong committment
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of Web/Application/Database Servers  and Network
  • Hands-on experience with proven track records of Web Application Design, Development, and Testing
  • Bi-lingual English and Japanese in writings and speaking at business level
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in:
    • A financial services environment, preferably insurance industry
    • In managing mid to large scale application development and/or infrastructure projects
    • Application (Open/Web) development in Japanese business environments
    • Offshore application development and management experience

IT education and qualifications:
  • Current project management qualification, eg Prince2, PMP or equivalent
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or information technology
